Hello, everyone! I would just like to say, thank you! It was awesome checking my exploded inbox and scrolling through an assortment of birthday wishes. That in itself is a great present. Sadly, I will not have enough time to reply to them all this week, but I look forward to continuing that next week. These past two weeks were very busy and flew by, which included a zone conference and the family Skype!
EDITOR'S NOTE: Thank you to all who took the time to wish Eli a happy birthday!
I´ll start with a very cool investigator that we have right now, Joe. He was found on an exchange a month or so ago, and we had off-and-on contact with him for a while before we actually got a lesson scheduled. When we got a fast appointment, we were very pleased and shocked when he pulled a gospel principles book and Book of Mormon down from his bedroom. Apparently he was taught years ago and still remembered a lot from the lessons. We read some of 2 Nephi Chapter 2 with him during one lesson, and as I was talking, explaining a little bit about Adam and Eve, he kept on reading, pouring over the text. Eventually I just stopped talking at him and looked at him, and he read one of the scriptures out loud to us and simply declared,"This is a powerful book." It was quiet for a moment as we all marveled at the sheer power of the Book of Mormon, because we all felt it in that moment.
This past week we enjoyed a great, last zone conference with President and Sister Robinson. They introduced the long-awaited iPads! It was a cool little intro about technology on the mission, although it is still unknown when we will be receiving them. After the conference in Rotterdam, Elder Da Silva and I went to Schiedam, a city in which Elder Da Silva served for 9 months. He wanted to say a last couple of good-byes, and I enjoyed re-living a big part of his mission with him.
There has been a lot more happening these past couple weeks, of course, but sadly I have to be very brief this week. More is on the way, not to worry. I´m loving my mission and appreciate everyone back home supporting me out here. I definitely feel that influence. It´s powerful how much good we can all do through simple things like prayer.
Love,
Elder Eli Andrew
